The “Lying Signs” of John McTernan and Jonathan Cahn

John McTernan and Jonathan Cahn both teach that God is judging America and both document a series of unusual “signs” or events to prove their position. John McTernan, in his book, As America Has Done to Israel, documents the catastrophes that have happened to America every time one of our leaders tries to bring peace to Israel by dividing the land. The cover of the book makes this claim:

There is a direct correlation between the alarming number of massive disasters striking America and her leaders pressuring Israel to surrender her land for peace. Costing hundreds of lives and causing hundreds of billions of dollars worth of damage, dozens of disasters, including devastating earthquakes, raging fires, hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, and tornadoes, have hit America – and always within twenty four hours of putting pressure on Israel.

Jonathan Cahn documents eight “harbingers” of God’s judgment on America in his book, The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret to America’s Future. He compares the signs of God’s judgment on ancient Israel with what he claims are the signs of judgment on America.

In both cases the signs of judgment are uncanny, almost miraculous. For example, the first time McTernan documents the leadership of America (President George H.W. Bush) going along with a plan to divide Israel was the same day that the “perfect storm” (portrayed in the movie The Perfect Storm) flooded and damaged the Kennebunkport, Maine vacation home of the Bush family, fulfilling, he says, Genesis 12:3 which says:

“Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.  And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

McTernan then goes on to connect hurricanes, earthquakes, and other catastrophes to the American leadership dividing the land in Israel. While I don’t want to go into whether God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel (this goes into the issue of Jesus becoming a curse for us) McTernan goes beyond this admonition and blames America’s judgment from God on homosexuals, those who make laws supporting homosexuals, on abortionists, and on the compromising, apathetic church. Cahn blames the same groups. The Harbinger  is promoted with these words:

The book traces a series of detailed parallels between what has happened in the United States since the 2001 terrorist attacks—including the economic collapse—and Israel’s history after it turned away from God. Told in fictional narrative, the book unfolds how nine signs concealed in recent events reveal God’s progressive judgment.

Hidden in an ancient biblical prophecy from Isaiah, the mysteries revealed in The Harbinger are so precise that they foretold recent American events down to the exact days. The revelations are so specific that even the most hardened skeptics will find it hard to dismiss or put down. It sounds like the plot of a Hollywood thriller with one exception… IT’S REAL.

Both of these authors claim that they can document the specific “signs” or events revealing that God is judging America . . . but were the September 11th terrorist attacks a sign that God is judging America? Was Superstorm Sandy a judgment from God, as McTernan claims? Cahn points to terrorism and economic collapse as evidence of judgment, while McTernan points to natural disasters as evidence of God’s wrath on the world.

The signs they point to seem more than coincidental. They seem to have been accomplished with pinpoint precision. But what if the signs aren’t from God? What if they are LYING SIGNS (2 Thessalonians 2:9) to deceive the church and lure her away from sound doctrine? What if, in their attempt to “defend the holy God of Israel,” (as McTernan claims he is doing)  they are painting a picture of God that is profane!

What a paradox that those who seem the most passionate about holiness, and the most concerned about God’s honor, are the very same people who are dishonoring God by neglecting the precious work of the blood of his Son.

After all, is Jesus actually pouring out his wrath on the world? Are any nations under the wrath of God at this time, or is this a false teaching based on an Old Testament understanding of God, one that neglects the propitiating atonement of Jesus Christ?

Jesus isn’t only the atonement for our sins, he is the PROPITIATING atonement for our sins–and not only our sins (as those who receive Christ), but for the sins of the whole world.

“And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”       (1 John 2:2)

What does the word “propitiation” mean? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, it means “to gain or regain the favor or goodwill of: appease.”  The Greek word for “propitiation” is “hilasmos” (Strong’s G2434).  It means “an appeasing, propitiating.” What does the word “appease” mean? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, it means:

1. To bring to a state of peace or quiet: calm.

2. To cause to subside : allay <appeased my hunger>.

3.  Pacifyconciliateespecially: to buy off (an aggressor) by concessions usually at the sacrifice of principles.”

The propitiating atonement of Jesus, not only reconciles us, as believers, to God. It also appeases the wrath of God upon the whole world. His wrath has been pacified until Jesus comes again, raptures the church, and the judgments are finally poured out. Until then, the world is in a state of peace with God. He has been pacified by the propitiating atonement of Jesus!

If this is the case, then how can McTernan and Cahn claim that God has revealed signs to them showing that God is judging America? Perhaps these are “lying signs!” After all, their teachings villify God. They make God an unjust judge when Jesus clearly taught that God is no longer even the judge!

For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.”   (John 5:22)

Jesus is the one who will finally open the seals (in particular the seventh seal) which initiates wrath and judgment being poured out on those who reject his offer of salvation. This is an appropriate circumstance since Jesus paid the price to have the judgment and wrath be held off. His blood was poured on the mercy seat!

As I’ve written in a previous article, there are other explanations for natural disasters, terrorism, and economic collapse. A nation can reap what it sows. Evil exists. We can be experiencing birth pangs as the return of Jesus draws nearer. The bad things that happen aren’t from God! God is not judging any man. Instead, the whole world is under a period of God’s grace. That is why “NOW is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthian 6:2)

The McTernan/Cahn scenario makes God an unrighteous judge. It makes him a God that mingles grace and wrath together, like an abusive father with a temper whose family never knows when they will have to run and hide from his anger. But the blood of Jesus is a form of forbearance.  “Forbearance” means:

 1.  A refraining from the enforcement of something (as a debt, right, or obligation) that is due.

 2.  The act of forbearing: patience.

 3. The quality of being forbearing: leniency.

Cahn and McTernan teach that God’s judgment is poured out on innocent people, that He isn’t a righteous judge. They also teach that JUDGMENT is for NOW, rather than for the DAY OF WRATH. They neglect or ignore the propitiating atonement because they don’t teach that the blood of Jesus appeases the wrath of God on behalf of the whole world.

Yet Romans 2:4-5 teaches that there is a forbearance, and that the present kindness and patience of God is allowing people to have time to repent, but those who harden their heart are storing up wrath for the time when God will pour out “righteous judgment”–not indiscriminate judgment on the guilty and innocent together–as Cahn and McTernan teach.

“Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; who will render to every man according to his deeds.”

This leads me to conclude that there is something sinister behind the “signs” that Cahn and McTernan claim to have had a revelation about. Since these miraculous signs counter the New Testament teaching on the propitiating atonement of Jesus Christ, they must not have their source in God–or in the truth. Instead, I believe they have their source in the father of lies.

Satan would want nothing more than to cause the church to abandon grace and neglect the true gospel. After all, the gospel is “Good News!” Yet there is no good news coming from ministries that preach the gloom, despair, and destruction of America by the hand of God. No doubt, America has gone far away from the teaching of the Word, and into sin and darkness, but is the Great Commission of the church to preach a warning of judgment against a nation, or is it an invitation to individuals to come to Christ by grace through faith?

What is the content of the Gospel we should preach?

In the grace of our Lord Jesus and his wonderful Word,

Greg and Diana Lesperance

  1. Diana Lesperance, I don’t know enough to refute everything in your article but since you asked for the Word, here’s some. The Bible says in Rev. 2:26-27 overcomers are given to smash nations with a rod of iron as vessels of pottery are smashed. I prayed to experience that and was eventually given an answer by God. I wrote a book http://cbs.freetom.info and tried to get the Congressional Prayer Caucus to read it. I became very frustrated when they and the CPC Foundation refused, writing them of praying to shake Washington up, which was quickly followed by the Virginia Earthquake http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Virginia_earthquake and I realized the CPC Foundation hadn’t been affected so I looked their location up on a map and said in silent prayer something would have to go up the coast to get them. A week later a hurricane went up that coast. So I know first hand God fulfills His word. But now I realize that I should focus my prayers on doing what Jesus did which supplied life, not destruction. I also realize many others’ prayers probably caused the other things John McTernan writes about. Even such things as global warming – when I was young my dad was looking to sell this farm in part since in the winter it was too cold so I prayed for it to be warmer and to my knowledge it has never been that cold since. So for lying signs you have to look to actual liars like Muslims whose prayers of darkness paved the way for 9/11.

  2. Diana, the biblical record tells us that God, who does not change, has judged nation after nation in history. And Scripture tells us that God “judges” nations and “executes” justice among them (Ps 7:8; 9:8; 67:4; 96:10). Those are “present active” declarations, meaning that God’s judgments are ongoing. The fact that God has set a day on which he will judge the whole world does not mean he has presently left off judging nations or punishing evildoers. And it would be a very curious thing indeed if Satan were the source behind “lying signs” that are used to call people to repent of their sins and return to God through faith in Christ Jesus. Do you also suppose the visions that David Wilkerson reported receiving from the Lord in 1958 and 1973 were false, even though those revelations, which spoke of national judgment, framed a call to repentance and faith, and even though most of what Wilkerson foresaw has since come to pass and the stage is now clearly set for the judgment foretold?[1] If so, will you also decry the judgment he prophesied in 1985?[2]

    1. The scriptures say the goodness of God leads to repentance (Romans 2:4-5), not the wrath of God. God may not have changed, but his relationship with humanity has changed because of the atonement of Jesus. According to 1 John 2:2, Jesus was the “propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.” The death of Jesus on the cross made atonement for the sins of the whole world. The word “atone” means “to make amends or reparation, as for an offense or a crime, or for an offender.” The blood of Jesus was so precious and so powerful to God that it is holding back His wrath and judgment until He who is worthy (Jesus-the Lamb of God) opens the seals which will initiate judgment.

I used to follow David Wilkerson for most of my Christian life. I received his newsletter for years. I have read and own both of the books you refer to, but as much as I love the heart and passion Wilkerson had for God, I have chosen to separate myself from his teachings for several reasons:

      1. His books were extra-biblical revelations. They went beyond what was written, something forbidden by 1 Cor. 4:6.

      2. Wilkerson gave false prophecies about 1000 fires burning in New York City, about the collapse of the market in 2000, and about Christian television going bankrupt by the end of the “90’s.

      3. Wilkerson’s theology on the judgment of America, while sounding very spiritual, actually neglects the thing that is most precious to God–the shed blood of His Son on the Cross.

Please consider carefully how you view the atoning blood of Jesus. I appreciate your desire to defend Wilkerson since he seemed like such an honorable and Godly man, just as Cahn and McTernan seem honorable in their defense of the “HOLY GOD OF ISRAEL.” Yet I would argue that God is just and his judgments are just. The view that 9/11 or any other disaster came at the hands of God is misrepresenting God’s heart and, as Jesus rebuked the disciples for wanting to call down fire on the Samaritans by warning them that they didn’t know what spirit they were of, I would argue that those who say God is judging and condemning sinners are of a different spirit, a different Jesus, and a different gospel.

Instead of preaching the Good News of God’s grace and love, they preach the bad news of God’s wrath and judgment. Today is the day of salvation, not of wrath!

      God bless you, Cale.

      1. Hi, Diana. Thank you for your gracious response to my comments.

I don’t know anything of the false prophecies you allege, so I cannot speak to them, but surely you have misconstrued 1 Corinthians 4:6 if you think it forbids revelations not recorded in Scripture. If that were the case, Paul would not have encouraged the Corinthian church later in the same letter to exercise the gift of prophecy and to share revelations received from the Lord in their congregational meetings (1 Cor 14). And in that case, it would have to be said that the future prophecies of the two witnesses in Revelation 11 would be “going beyond what was written.” In fact all of the revelatory gifts of the Spirit that Paul talked about in 1 Corinthians 12 would be out of step with his instruction in 4:6, as you seem to read it.

Surely the goodness of God that is demonstrated in his forbearance is meant to lead people to repentance. That has always been true, as can be seen in the case of Nineveh. Yet it has also always been true that God judges between nations, exalting one and casting down another. The gospel of Jesus Christ is good news indeed, but it is not, as you suppose, only a message of God’s grace and love. It is also a message of warning that God is righteous and just, having appointed a day in which he will judge the world. It is a message of warning to flee from the wrath which is to come by embracing Jesus and his offer of salvation. Paul proclaimed both the mercy and the judgment of God when he preached the gospel because both truths are integral to the gospel message. In fact, the offer of salvation is ostensibly meaningless absent the prospect of judgment.

Within the context of the gospel, even the churches are warned of judgment if they sin and do not repent, as seen clearly in Revelation 2-3. And temporal divine judgment against individual believers is a reality, as evidenced by texts such as Acts 5:1-11 and 1 Corinthians 11:27-30. We also see in Scripture temporal judgment of unbelievers before the Day of the Lord, individually in Acts 12:23 and corporately in Revelation 18. And, in my opinion, divine judgment of nations can be seen in history since Christ’s incarnation (as well as before), beginning most notably with the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.

I submit to you that God has not suspended his sovereign rule over mankind since Jesus has come. Scripture is very clear that he continues to exercise temporal judgment, both individually and corporately, both within the church and without.

        Grace to you, Diana.

      2. Thank you, Cale, for your intelligent and well thought out response. I treasure the Word being brought to me since my heart’s desire is to love and know the Truth. Sometimes it takes an “iron sharpens iron” attitude to come to the position of “rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” I will take your thoughts into consideration and come back with a response as soon as I can. I have a large family who always wants something from me, so I disappear from my blog for days at a time. But your challenge is definitely at the forefront of my heart during this time.

        Warm regards,

      3. Actually whenever America has a revival it is based mercy as well as Justice. God has ALWAYS been a loving God but their MUST be judgment along with love. Actually the ENTIRE OT shows his love as well as his judgment. Jesus Christ WAS present in the OT. Sacrificing sheep and passover are a forerunner of Christ.Christians now think God is ALL love and NO judgment so him saying that whoever rejects Christ (Salvation) will NOT enter the Kingdom of God. I can live with him judging sin and unrighteous people. For instance do you really want a murderer who tortured and killed people to go to heaven Some say that is different BUT followers (True followers) cannot have it both ways. He is a judge and a God of love as well. Frankly how can you be a God of love but refuse to judge. If he was truly a God of love only we would meet Hitler types, Stalin types and other well known killers. BUT he tells us ALL how to get to heaven and he loves us BUT if his son is rejected you are condemned so in that respect he tells us what to do to spend eternity with him. I am glad this is so. Think how many people have died for the word of Christ and think about people who murdered you being in heaven even though they cursed God and practiced Satanism. So a God of love with no Justice is a cruel and petty God who I would NEVER want to spend eternity with him. Imagine spending eternity with people who raped and murdered kids BUT God told us ALL we had to do is accept Christ as Lord and Saviour and he tells of consequences if Christ is rejected. Pretty simple unless that is a lie and if only loving and no judge than the entire Bible is a lie and God had his son die a horrific death. For what? if EVERYONE will be saved caues he is so loving. Lots who believe that so it gives them an excuse to sin (showing not really saved after all) will be shocked when Jesus says get away he never knew you and Christ says there will be people like that when he returns. Bet most will be the ones who preached a worthless loving God who allowed his son to die FOR NO REASON since ALL are saved according to the people who say God is ALL about love. Frankly it makes me sick to my stomach when I hear this cause how many reject christ cause so called Christians say it is ok he loves EVERYONE and no matter what you do you will go to heaven thus making the Entire Bible worthless and seeing a God who watched his son die a horrific death for nothing. If this is truly how you think I feel sorry that you do not know God or you would know his character. Sorry if I misunderstood your post. BUT the majority of humanity will go to Hell cause they rejected Christ and those who do NOT choose Christ automatically accept Satan

  3. Do you see that the things John McTernan warns us about, and brings to our attention, are still happening at an incredible rate? Do you think God is sitting on the Throne Of Grace with His hands tied?
Should we take advantage of The Blood, and sin all the more while God looks lovingly on without recourse?
Is the Bible not enough proof that a Holy God still must JUDGE because of his very Holiness? Homosexual activity/marriage, was the most vile thing in the Bible, and God showed the people his judgement on it was quite severe. We are warned Sodom and Gomorahh are an example. I find it sad that people who write blogs such as you do, would not just keep their opinion to themselves if it were wrong, or even might be wrong, rather than steer a busload off the cliff. You may say John McTernan is doing the same thing, but my Bible shows me otherwise. My newspaper shows me otherwise. Society and it’s condition show me otherwise. The acceptance of it all by society shows us they are not willing to speak up to repent, but submerge themselves in this world instead. I do not understand WHY someone would try to undermine the work of a very truthful and humble watchman?
Your writing almost seems like double talk….what was your point?

    1. If Jesus said that the Father judges no one, how can you claim God is judging America?

Jesus said that all judgment has been given to the Son. He said he didn’t come to condemn the world, but to save it. Did Jesus judge sinners (such as homosexuals or adulterers or tax collectors), by calling fire down from heaven to strike them dead, or sending storms to destroy them, or did he reach out to them with forgiveness and understanding? Didn’t Jesus CALM the storms and the sea, rather than stir it up and use it to judge sinners?

The only ones that Jesus opposed were hypocritical, judgmental Pharisees who had no understanding of the mission of Jesus, and who, Jesus said, made it difficult for men to come to God.

Jesus came to the earth to bring peace and good will from God. His shed blood would accomplish that. It would appease God’s wrath, just as the blood of a lamb which made atonement for the sins of the people would appease the wrath of God for another year. This was a type and shadow of Jesus, the Lamb of God.How powerful is the blood of Jesus!

All people everywhere are now given time to repent without fear of God’s wrath. There WILL BE a day of reckoning, but for now, because of the atonement, God is in a state of temporary peace with humanity. I challenge you to find any evidence otherwise in the New Testament.

Jesus is a righteous judge and as long as the wheat and tares are in the world, they will grow up together until the day of judgment.

“Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” (Matthew 13:24-30)

Jesus explained further down in verse 38 that the tares are the “world.” The church and the world are going to both grow together until the end when the judgment will happen.

“Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.” 37 He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. 40 Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, 42 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.”

Do you have “ears to hear” that the judgment between sinners and saints won’t happen until the “end of the age? This is when Jesus, himself, initiates the wrath, AFTER the church is out of harms way.

John McTernan even prays that the people of God will be kept safe when the judgments of God are about to be poured out. He shares Ezekiel 9, where God’s people are sealed by a man in white linen. He recognizes that storms, war, and other disasters can hurt all people, even Christians, so he prays that God will seal His people–yet Christians die in war and disasters. How can this be? Is God not a righteous judge? If the coming wars and disasters are judgments from God, why are Christians dying?

The answer is that God is judging no man. All judgment has been given to the Son. And Jesus is waiting until the Day of the Lord to pour out judgment and wrath.

The wars and tragedies that occur are a result of evil and living on a fallen earth.

I don’t think I’m speaking double-talk. I think I’m being consistent. I believe McTernan and Cahn are speaking double-talk. They are double-minded men, not understanding the work Jesus did on the cross, teaching we are under both grace and wrath, intermittently.

Yet where is the evidence for the existence of this judging God? Why does Joplin get plowed over by a tornado, yet Hollywood stands. Why does the French Quarter survive and the neighborhoods of New Orleans go under?

Do you think Jesus wanted to harm anyone? Yet McTernan constantly refers to the “meat grinder” of God’s judgment.

The question I have for you, if you have ears to hear, is this: Do you want to serve the true Jesus, or “another Jesus” and “another Gospel?” McTernan is trying to turn you to the “meat grinder” Jesus–who isn’t found in the Word of God. My Jesus is a Lamb, until the day when his little lambs have been gathered and wrath will fall on those who reject his truth. Could that be you or Mr. McTernan? God doesn’t deal well with false teachers who reject the truth and teach false doctrine.

I say this with love in my heart, even though it’s a harsh word. But how do I wake up those people who believe they are so holy for pronouncing God’s “judgment?” THEY are the ones who are causing the damage to America! They preach a false message and turn sinners away from Jesus! The very sinners who they now point to as deserving of God’s judgment. Perhaps sinners aren’t able to be saved because they don’t hear the true gospel from very many corners of the church.

Worst of all, the “HOLY GOD OF ISRAEL” is offended because you don’t think the precious blood of His Son was powerful enough to appease His wrath, giving all people an opportunity to hear the Good News of grace and salvation to all people of all ages and all nations.

Please try to understand how wonderful the grace of God is!

      1. Your lamb Jesus? The cone who destroyed the Temple cause they were misusing his hose? The Jesus who told a richman in order to follow me you MUST give up everything. The Jesus that preached to live like him and if they do not ask him into your heart you go to hell? that Jesus? OT and NT testament shows the judgment of both believers and non believers. Jesus himself said he is the ONLY way to the father. A would NEVER want a loving God who does not judge the wicked. Say Hitler, pedophiles. From what you say if you Jesus is so loving he will accept people like that as well which means the ENTIRE WORD OF GOD is a lie. When God returns for his people the God you talk of WILL NOT BE SEEN causae he DOES NOT and has NEVER existed or the entire Bible is a lie so why believe anything. If I believed in this type of Jesus I would HATE HIM cause my dad died before I was 10; best friend murdered before 12; brother killed before 25; fiance died 2008 after I left domestic violence situation and then my son died. That does not show a loving God. If he was truly loving and did not use justice than Adam and Eve would NEVER have been thrown out of the Garden. So called Christians who say their God is All about love DO NOT KNOW JESUS/God and they use the argument about their God being all about love cause then they can excuse ANYTHING they do that Jesus/God would be against. Anyone who feels this way better review their walk with God cause they are spouting a Satan inspired lie.

    2. J.M.do you really need John Mcternan to “bring to your attention” the things that are happening in the world? Don’t you have access to newspapers, Internet, or TV? Do you honestly believe ‘God’s judgment on America’ began when J Mct officially said it did? Explain how he can possibly know that. By circumstantial evidence or by using the Bible and rightly dividing it? I can tell you its not the latter. We should never hold men’s reputations above the truth. Why would you prefer that the truth stay hidden so that the one you believe in who is teaching others error is not exposed? No one’s reputation or ministry is above the truth.

So somehow if the bad guys aren’t immediately dealt with to yours and McTernan’s satisfaction you interpret that as God’s hands being tied? If God doesn’t strike out at sinners and immediately defend His holiness do you also read that as weakness? You seem to  know very little of God’s patience, a patience we’re all called to imitate. God indeed IS working in the world today however you don’t have eyes to see. God’s ways are not our ways. A dead, paid back, sinner  does not satisfy God the way you think it does. God does not rejoice over dead sinners the way some Christians do. God’s great pleasure, His great delight is the sinner who comes to the truth having his sins washed away by the blood of His dear Son. Jesus said the conversion of one sinner makes the angels in Heaven rejoice!

I don’t believe God is afraid of sinners “taking advantage of the blood of Jesus” the way you seem to think He is, because He knows that most sinners don’t have a clue! I can tell you that before the Lord saved me by His grace I never heard of the blood of Jesus and never thought about God at all in my daily life. The majority of those in the world are still in ignorance, in bondage to sin and Satan and completely powerless to overcome incriminating sin in their lives. We christians have nothing to brag about as if we’re better then they are. Its BY HIS GRACE that we are what we are and NOTHING that we have done and God made sure He did it that way so that we WOULDN’T BOAST, or act “better then” others. However when we go around condemning and accusing others of things we ourselves used to be guilty of, thats exactly what we’re doing!

Moreover any teacher of the word of God who is condemning and blaming atheists for instance, for all the ills in the world WHEN HE USED TO BE AN ATHEIST HIMSELF is swimming in hypocrisy. For any teacher to not reveal that he himself was caught up in that sin and then go around condemning others is to rob God of His glory because if it wasn’t for GOD”S GRACE, he would still be an atheist today just the same as them.

And yes, we ALL know God is holy and thats why our sins must be washed away and thats what God is in the process of doing. Be patient, these things take time. The whole country can’t be converted over night. But one by one they’re coming to Jesus to be forgiven and cleansed while God’s angels are fighting round the clock to keep them alive lest Satan kill them before their time, before they’ve had a thorough chance to hear and believe the Gospel. The GOOD NEWS! Please stop repeating the lie that homosexuality is the “most vile thing in the bible” There is ONLY ONE sin that God detests above all others and will never be forgiven and that is – blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Yet J McT FEARLESSLY ascribes to God the works of Satan! Without fear! Things that NO human being could ever know positively while at the same time accusing countless others saying that they have no fear of God!
If there is one chance in a billion that he could be wrong why would he take that chance? It would be blasphemy!

God is a spirit. Please don’t attempt to explain spiritual things by using newspapers or referring to society to make your point. Learn to judge righteous judgement. Become skillful at rightly dividing the word of truth. Take time to fill your heart with God’s word so that in the future you’ll accurately be able to discern between truth and error. The lines are becoming blurred in these last days. If truth hasn’t been firmly planted in our heart, if its roots aren’t deep inside of us we will spin our wheels constantly defending a man we admire and believe in more then the truth. Our loyalty must be to Jesus Christ alone, not a man. God so desires all of His children to come out of error and submit themselves to the truth. Beware of pride. Its deadly. To call pride, “humility” is to err. Seek God to reveal to you what a genuinely humble man looks like. I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ by His Spirit guide you into all truth.

      1. Thank you, FW! I’m so glad you were blessed.

My heart is jealous for Jesus and the Word of God. The followers of McTernan and Cahn think they have a corner on truth and holiness, but THEY DON’T. They actually reject the blood of Christ and what it accomplished on behalf of the whole world. They corrupt grace. They corrupt truth. They corrupt the Gospel. They live before the Cross, under the Law, and under wrath.

I know they think they are defending God, but they are actually bringing shame to the name of God…to claim that tragedies and disasters spring forth from the heart of God…when even in the Old Testament Noah preached for 100 years before the unsaved were judged, and Abraham pleaded on behalf of Sodom and Gomorrah for a delay of judgment if 10 righteous men were found. The “meat grinder” concept makes God into a less gracious God while the world is under grace than He was before the blood of Jesus propitiated (appeased, pacified, concilliated) for the sins of the whole world, pleasing God and causing Him to be calmed and at peace with humanity for a season.

That is why NOW is the time of salvation! We need to work while there is still time and share the pure Gospel.

Why waste our time with the message of doom and destruction supposedly brought about by God? Preach the Good News that God is at peace with you because of Jesus. How wonderful is Jesus! God’s will was that he would be a lamb led to the slaughter. Jesus would be smitten for us! Isaiah 53 was what Jesus accomplished on our behalf :

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity OF US ALL.

All of the sin of humanity was laid upon Jesus. Jesus paid it all. How can people be judged by God if God is no longer judging and Jesus paid it all on our behalf?

What Gospel are we preaching when we tell sinners God is angry with them? He isn’t! Where is the Good News in that? The angels proclaimed peace on earth, good will toward men.

Jesus said the Word will judge men on the Day of Judgment.

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I JUDGE HIM NOT: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him IN THE LAST DAY. (John 12:47-48)

Jesus isn’t judging those who reject him, but his words will judge them in the last day. So let’s preach this good news and share the unconditional love of Jesus while there is still time, because the night is coming when no man can work, but it’s not for now.

And let’s start blaming ourselves for our sad condition, rather than blaming it on the “judgment” of God.

I spent an afternoon confronting John McTernan on his position. He wanted to shut me down immediately, but when he discovered I worked with “Operation Rescue”he “allowed” me to continue to debate him for a while. He didn’t address the atonement or that God judged no man. Eventually he shut me out.

Thank you so much for your encouragement. This is a high mountain of false doctrine to overcome in Christianity.

  4. I loved reading your post….thank you for exposing what Cahn and McTernan are really saying, that Christ’s sacrifice was not enough to satisfy God’s wrath and that He is continuing to judge instead of having turned over all judgment to His Son.

    1. I’m so glad to hear that somebody else is willing to interpret the atonement in the way I see it. You wouldn’t believe how many people have been vehemently upset by my posts on why God is not judging….
It makes me wonder if their anger at me comes from a source other than God. Satan would love for the church to neglect the purpose for the shed blood of Jesus.
It was really encouraging to hear your words of support.
      Grace and peace to you!

      1. Diana I also wanted to thank you for your posts, especially this one. The Lord used you to clear up a great deal of confusion for me. I recently read the words of a Muslim man who had converted to Christianity and was trying to convince his Muslim friends that the “God of the Christians” was the true God. Interestingly a point that he made over and over again was that the God of Christianity was LOVE and didn’t believe in senseless killing the way Allah did. This does not fit in with McTernan’s god who in his wrath kills the innocent along with the guilty. i believe in these last days the true character of God is going to be distorted by satan’s messengers. The reason is so that people will run away from this wonderful God who loves them so much instead of TO Him. The whole world needs to know that God the Father and Jesus their Savior loves them. THAT is the true message we were commissioned with.THAT is the true Gospel. God bless you. F.W.

  5. I have been so spiritually disturbed by all the teachings from Cahn and John T. I have literally been on tilt, knowing we are still in the dispensation of grace and the pouring out of judgment is yet to come and our message at the present time is to be one of reconciliation. Yet I see Christians, churches, web blogs, etc..by the score all touting all their dire warnings. I had to search and search to find this blog… thank you Jesus! At last some truth and sanity! Thank you so much for posting this and I only hope many others will find it as well. God bless you sister, keep up the good fight, night is falling fast

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Sonnie. I’m so glad you were blessed. There are a lot of people interested in the subject since it doesn’t seem Cahn’s “Shemitah ” prophecy has been fulfilled. I agree that night is coming and we won’t be able to work so we must share the GOOD NEWS now. There is power in the Blood! Grace and PEACE, Diana
